Brett White is our head building inspector and has 25 years experience in the building industry, conducting over 1,000 building inspections across Melbourne in that time. Brett is a licensed builder, qualified carpenter and has supervised the numerous residential and commercial constructions. In addition to this, Brett is also a certified pest inspector.

I must have read dozens of reviews and sample reports for home building and pest inspections (and gotten quotes all along the spectrum) before I decided on Inspect East. The reviews absolutely do not lie. Brett is meticulous, diligent, scrupulous, and worth every penny. We had entered into a contract of sale that had a 7 day cooling period (to allow for inspections). The house was brand new and freshly built by licensed builders, who were also the vendors. Consequently, I wasn’t expecting any issues, and only engaged Brett out of an abundance of caution. I’m SO glad I did – he identified a number of major defects that were not visible on typical property inspection. His report was extremely thorough and transparent, and each comment was accompanied by photographic proof. His follow-up was fantastic, and he made himself available for every question I had. I’ve seen reports from other inspection companies that friends have commissioned, and they pale in comparison. Thanks to Brett, the vendors agreed to fix all of the major defects, and I was pleased to pay Brett to go out there again to verify the fixes. The report highlighted issues with the house we were not made aware of. Our builder did an inspection and he also noted the same issues highlighted in the report. As a result, we subsequently backed out of the sale before the cooling off period.

FAQ
There are common questions that businesses and homeowners in Melbourne ask when looking for building inspection services. We answer some of them here.
Fundamentally the inspection process does not differ we still inspect the property with the same procedure covering all areas reporting all defects with the same consistent standards. However the wording in some sections of the reporting process is different to accommodate the sale process.
The inspector will also verbally communicate findings to you once you have at a minimum read the major summary section of the report/s (the page is positioned at the front of the report/s immediately after the index so you cannot miss it).
You may request a hard copy of the inspection report at no extra charge.
Other acceptable payment methods are bank transfer.
